Colin McHugh is an artist graduating from Stockton University with a BFA in Visual Arts, concentrating in Visual Communications. Ever since middle school, he had a love for the arts and that love only developed further during his high school years, when he discovered a passion for computer-based graphics. Although Colin originally wanted to pursue a career in computer science, his personal love for the arts overshadowed that path. In addition to providing a mental outlet of expression, visual art was also something that he aspired to improve at, thus bringing him to where he is today.
While attending Stockton University, Colin developed a greater admiration for multiple mediums of visual arts and graphic design, including but not limited to analog photography, printmaking, and oil painting. However, he still primarily adheres to creating his artwork digitally, utilizing Adobe programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. Inspired by his brother, a fellow artist, Colin developed an interest in photo manipulation and collage, using his own photography in many of his works. During his time at Stockton, he was given several opportunities to implement this art style into standalone pieces as well as communicative designs. Without the aid of his patient and encouraging professors, Colin would not have been able to confidently explore the styles that have so defined much of his artwork thus far.
Similarly to when he discovered his passions and styles in his educational career, Colin plans to continue learning and growing his knowledge and capabilities in his future professional career. Extending beyond Stockton University, Colin hopes to pursue an occupation in graphic design while maintaining freelance opportunities simultaneously.
