My name is Emilie Guinan and I have been doing graphic design since I was about eight years
old. Okay that’s a slight exaggeration but I have been creating art for as long as I can remember.
My first introduction to Graphic Design was in elementary school, my mom who has always
been completely supportive of any art I create, volunteered to design my school yearbook. The
job came with a massive binder filled with colors, clip art, and borders. I was fascinated by it and
my wonderful Mom indulged me, letting me choose borders, color schemes, background and of
course the clip art!
This would lead me to joining the yearbook committee my senior year of high school. It was the
end of 2020, and classes were finally resuming in person. With a team of only three people, we
worked ourselves to the bone. Out of necessity I taught myself photoshop, watched every
tutorial I could about the yearbook company’s software, and became the de facto tech support
and photoshop artist. After that I was hooked! I graduated highschool, and earned my Associates in Visual Communications at Ocean County College. I’ve taken what I have learned and applied to my life outside of school as much as possible. I have worked with local realtors as a photographer and photoshop artist. I also own an Etsy Shop called DisNiche where I design all of my products and am proud to say I have made over 1,000 sales. Last summer I also had the pleasure of interning in Creative Services at Spirit Halloween and Spencer’s Gifts. I am so
grateful for everything I have learned here at Stockton and am so excited to begin the next chapter of my career.
