As an artist, my work is a reflection of my faith and a means of evangelism. Each piece I create, including my series Reflection, Imperfection, Justification, Redemption, Judgement and The Word.,” is a testament to the grace and love I’ve experienced through my relationship with Jesus Christ.
Art for me is a powerful vehicle for sharing the gospel—the good news that we are called to proclaim. Through my hands, I form life casts that embody themes of hope, love, and redemption. I want viewers to engage deeply with these pieces, prompting self-examination and inviting them to consider their own relationship with God.
I made the decision to use life-castings of my own hands and incorporated them in each piece. The thought of my hands creating the artwork and being the subject of the artwork, relates to the hands of the Devine Creator. In essence, I am able to create due to the hands that created me. The dark, yellow and shimmering colors used in my pieces represent, struggles in life, reflection, decisions, consequences, judgement, hope, grace and spiritual light from above. The struggles of life, the trials that we encounter are portrayed in the dark color and the clenched fist. The reflection in the mirror is a self examination. We make decisions that involve consequences, judgment and hope. The shimmer of yellow is from God above it is His grace and spiritual light. The final judgment is displayed in the ashes, this is eternal separation from the Creator.
My intention is to honor and praise our Savior in every creation, hoping that each artwork encourages others to reach out and embrace His grace. I am excited to share this body of work, as I believe it can serve as a catalyst for transformation and a deeper understanding of faith. In the beauty of imperfection, I find the profound truth of our shared humanity and the sovereignty of a loving Creator.
