Hi my name is Perky Tse and I am a Visual Arts major concentrating in Visual Communications. As a visual artist, I am not afraid to express my works with different mediums. My artwork includes a combination of illustrations, typography, and 3D designs. I have enjoyed drawing and making crafts since a young age, and before I was interested in graphic design, interior design was actually my first choice. I remembered sketching loads of blueprints of my dream house when I was young. You may see some of my interior design projects in my portfolio. I started my interest in graphic design in Freshman year of high school, and I fell in love since then. As a Visual Communications artist, I am always open to exploring various approaches to communication. Other than graphic design, I also love doing video-editing, animation, and music production.
For my senior exhibition, I decided to bring the audience to my motherland, Hong Kong. The Mass Transit Railway, also known as MTR, is the most common and my favorite public transportation in Hong Kong. I traveled with MTR basically everyday, whether going to school or going out with friends. Besides, there were many ads, artworks, and typography signs all over areas of the stations which I enjoyed looking at. However, I noticed that most passengers were either on their phones and sleeping or rushing to get to their destinations. No one really pays attention to the ads and artworks around them, therefore I wanted to create art pieces that can attract their attention. I also think it is a great way to spread messages or allow foreigners to know about the MTR culture in Hong Kong.
Although I am still deciding which career path I should enter, my career aspiration is to maximize my creative skills and become an excellent visual artist. In the next couple years, I would love to try other forms of art such as installation arts or performing arts.
