These struggles are a part of who I am as an artist and as a person. In all honesty, I didn\u2019t like to be perceived as an artist in the past. Perhaps it was due to the unending chase of attaining perfection and my inherent imposter syndrome. I didn\u2019t even start out as a Visual Arts major, but fortunately, that\u2019s not where that story ends today. Staying creative while pursuing my first degree made me question what I really wanted in life. So when I was forced to choose between art and something else, I decided to change my trajectory and declared my second major. In the end, being an artist has been such an important part of who I am as a person. Allow me to introduce myself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hi, I\u2019m Amy Ouyang, a designer and illustrator. I\u2019m a Visual Communications and Business Administration double degree here at Stockton University. I\u2019m happy to make your acquaintance, and also happy to finally graduate this spring.\u00a0 I love creating in all forms whether it be painting, photography, vlogging, or animation \u2014 but my true passion lies in graphic design and illustration. In my exhibition, I have showcased a collection of works made during my time with the visual arts program.<\/span><\/p>\n

I know my childhood self would be so happy to see where I ended up today. She grew up being told one couldn\u2019t make a career in art and was always forced to push it aside. Times have changed and so have I. And I know wherever I go in the future, I will always be able to count on my own creativity and the skills I\u2019ve learned here at Stockton. Thank you to my mentors and friends, who have supported me and loved my art even when I couldn\u2019t.<\/span><\/p>\n
