Expanding your art connections can create more opportunities for growth and exposure.
”Being part of the visual arts program has really helped me grow both technically and creatively. The professors push you while still giving you space to explore your own style. I’ve met some of the most supportive artists here.

An internship is strongly recommended if your studio concentration is Graphic Design (VCOM). For a 4-credit internship, you need to intern about 8 hours per week (120 total hours for the semester). It is best to consider an internship AFTER you have completed Graphic Design I, Image and Typography, Graphic Design II, or Interactive Media before applying for an internship. Here are some tips for finding the best internship option for you.

Career Center: Find an intern position on your own. Contact design and ad agencies and ask if they take interns. Have your portfolio ready in either PDF or as a web format. Look up Yellow Pages online for Design companies and ad agencies where you could commute. The Career Center is also a good resource to find an internship in your field. If the company is looking to hire, it may be possible that they would consider an intern position.
