My name is Zuleika Rodriguez and I am a Visual Communication concentration student in the Visual Arts program. I also hold minors in Art History and Business Administration. My experience in visual communications started at Ocean County Vocational Technical Schools, where I earned my certificate in 2022. While there, I received the Scholarship, Leadership, and Service Award from the Ocean County Superintendents’ Roundtable. I was also a College Board Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar.
My goal coming to Stockton was to become a better communicator. Learning English as a second language when I was a child, I understand firsthand the importance of communication beyond language. Visual communications has the ability to transcend these barriers. I was able to earn my Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish from the New Jersey Department of Education in 2022.
During my time at Stockton, I have continued my education and pursued my passion for magazine design and journalism. I have served as editor-in-chief of Stockpot Art and Literature magazine for two years, preceded by 2 years on the editing staff. In total, I have 8 years of experience in publication design. I also served as assistant editor for The Argo student newspaper for 2 years, preceded by 2 years of being a staff writer. In my junior year, I was able to intern for Stockton University Relations and Marketing, where I wrote press releases for the university and learned about social media marketing for a public university.
Getting involved on campus has allowed me to meet great people and build relationships that will last a lifetime. Over the years at Stockton I have: served as Public Relations chair for the Queer and Transgender People of Color Society, co-hosted a radio show on WLFR Argo on Air, and have been a member of the Honduran Student Association, Los Latinos Unidos, The Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society, and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
I would like to thank the community at Stockton and my professors for giving me the best foundation and launchpad for my career.
